System allows Police to Scan and Compare License Plates to Government Databases

December 20th, 2006 · No Comments

This video is from the Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team. It demonstrates a system that enables police to scan up to 3000 license plates per hour and compare them to police and other databases. I would expect that it would not be difficult to also store the location of any vehicle scanned at a particular time.

For anybody that finds this technology upsetting here is a funny clip about personalized plates. The last guy has some balls.
